This is about how I feel today. Staring out the window from the safety of the indoors.

Sun and Clouds
I've been getting a lot of pleasure out of shooting landscapes lately. I think it is a healthy distraction for me, just taking long walks and admiring the way the sky moves and changes and turns different colors over the passage of time.

For Who?
There weren't any roads near this sign so I have no clue what its purpose was. Maybe there are some really fast joggers in this area running through the fields of grass?
The mind wonders.

The Shore
Yup, ok I'll admit it. I made the model get in the water while I stayed nice and dry on shore.
So sue me.

Natural Light
Not a lot to say today, but I felt like posting anyway.

The Little Things
I think the one and only motivation I have ever had to be “famous” for something is the fact that I feel like important people never have to waste their entire day running errands. It’s not the money or the attention that I would crave, but not having to spend my precious time doing routine things would be really nice.
My list of items I need to get done today include buying new shoes, buying soap, washing towels and sheets, going to the bank, sweeping the floor, stopping by the office to return three phone calls, getting gas for the car, dropping off a couple rolls of color film at the lab, and I’m sure at least two items that have slipped my mind for the moment.
Sounds like a thrilling way to spend a Saturday right?
Oh well… At least I can live vicariously through my own photographs and pretend this is one of those weekends where I am out having an adventure, exploring the wilderness, and taking lovely photographs.

Self-Portrait
In case it isn't completely obvious to anyone who follows this blog, I have been really diving into photography as of late. A lot more so than usual. There are a lot of reasons behind that. Part of me needs something to distract myself. Part of me is feeling more inspired than usual. Part of me is just simply bored and I feel like I need something to do.
This was a self portrait taken in the early morning hours in my bedroom. The light has been really lovely the last couple of weeks which makes rising up for the day just a little bit easier. I think on some level just about anyone can relate to that feeling.

Nature in Red
Contrary to popular belief, I get really excited when amazing color opportunities cross my path. I spend so much time in nature during every season of the year I'm in a constant state of amazement at the way the earth changes colors and hues with every passing month.
Typically in my camera bag I will carry a small digital camera for just these occasions. These days that is a small Sony NEX which I essentially just use as a glorified point and shoot with Leica glass attached to it. It comes in handy. I guess I bring this up also to illustrate the point that I am not nearly as much of a camera snob as people may think. I fully endorse whatever it takes to get the job done.

Small Spaces
Lately I've been really attracted to smaller spaces, which is quite a departure from my usual thing. I've always liked big grand landscapes and in unspeakable ways I still do, but I'm learning to appreciate the more intimate things in life too.
Photographing in closer quarters, in a space where one cannot move back and forth and incorporate a million beautiful things into a single frame. It's a nice change for me.

Soaking What Little Light
The model in this image is actually posing for a pinhole photograph. The exposure was a bit on the "long-ish" side so I figured it wouldn't hurt to pull out the Leica and expose a few regular images while she was laying about anyway! I'm not going to deny, I often feel a little lost when I'm waiting for long pinhole exposures to finish. Should I hum a tune? Pull out my phone and play a game of solitaire? Stare at the sky?
You'd never know it looking at this image but there was actually a gentle rain falling from the sky at the time this was made. Though certainly not warm, it was still a peaceful moment.

Peaceful Black and White
I very much enjoy the tones in this image. It's just very pleasing to my eye the way the grayscale transitions from deep black to white along with the subtle change from focus to blurred.
